Cerezyme is biologic therapy that is indicated for treating
pediatric and adult patients with a confirmed diagnosis of Type 1 Gaucher disease that results in one or more of the following conditions:
- anemia
- thrombocytopenia
- bone disease
Cerezyme is a biologic infusion therapy that treats Gaucher disease.
Gaucher disease can damage many different parts of the body. The damage occurs because people with Gaucher disease do not make enough of the enzyme glucocerebrosidase a type of fat called glucocerebroside that eliminates this bad fat.
Gaucher disease typically causes a large liver and spleen, anemia, low platelet count, lung disease, and sometimes brain disease.
Cerezyme infusion replaces the missing enzyme to alleviate symptoms.
